i had a similar idea when i read the prompt, but the rose in the forefront immediately makes me think of phantom of the opera. was that your intent or a coincedence? i especially like the rose part, though, as it seems to just be out of the shadow and visible to the viewer when other things are not.

Hi Jill....actually, this came out of my head...it was just a coincidence...which bummed me out, because you are the second person who mentioned that. My husbands aunt also said about that...I think the Phantom had a half mask...but this was actually supposed to be two masks...one behind the other..two entities...the one coming from behind and putting it's hand over the other ones mouth...maybe I will have to go back and rework it...as it seems to be taking on a different meaning than I had intended. I don't know why I threw the rose in to be honest...I needed something to fill the space, as I unintentially painted the image a bit too far to the side of the canvas...and I needed to fill the other side..lol. This is just my luck.

ohhh didnt even cross my mind the phantom of the opera. like u said that was a 1/2 mask. but i had more sinister thoughts since it seemed like u said with the hand over the mouth and one behind the other. the rose a symbol of wht was but not between the two that are present in the illo. I like it. and its good to see u posting again.

The hand-without-form covering the mouth is what caught my eye. Very mysterious. I didn't see the Phantom connection until I read the comments. Nice job.

Ah, the drama! Comedy and tragedy are such extremes. There's so many layers (silliness, nausea, confusion,) in between!
